My homemade Strawberry Milk is a rich, creamy concoction that perfectly combines strawberry syrup and whole milk for a flavor explosion. Loaded with real strawberry taste, this fantastic beverage is the perfect way to relive childhood memories or create new ones!
Strawberry milk has this magical way of transporting us right back to the carefree days of childhood. Think of those warm summer afternoons, with the sun shining bright and a glass of Nesquik strawberry milk in hand, courtesy of Mom. As the days get warmer, that craving for the sweet, fruity taste of strawberry milk starts to kick in. Naturally, I was inspired to whip up my own homemade batch.
Making your own strawberry milk is surprisingly simple and quick. Within 15 minutes, you can enjoy a glass of rich, creamy milk bursting with the bold taste of fresh strawberries, thanks to a sweet homemade syrup. Not only does homemade strawberry milk taste far superior, but it’s also healthier than the store-bought alternatives. The ones off the shelf tend to be loaded with unnecessary preservatives, added sugars, and a bunch of ingredients whose names are a mystery. Do yourself a favor and go for the homemade route – this strawberry milk recipe is definitely something you don’t want to miss.
What You’ll Need
You’ll only need 5 ingredients to make homemade strawberry milk. It doesn’t get much easier than that.
- Strawberries: All of the strawberry flavor comes from the strawberries themselves, so make sure they are ripe and sweet. I prefer fresh berries, but you can use frozen berries, too, and you do not need to thaw the berries first. However, I suggest adding 1 to 2 extra minutes to the cooking time.
- Granulated sugar
- Water
- Vanilla extract
- Whole milk: I used whole milk here, but you could use 2% or fat-free milk. Dairy-free, too. I have tried this recipe with several different kinds of milk, and it works just as well. I suggest full-fat, creamy milk alternatives such as oat milk or cashew milk. Be sure the product you choose is unsweetened.
How to Make Strawberry Milk
It doesn’t take much to make this flavored milk. All you have to do is whip up a quick strawberry syrup and mix it with milk. Here’s an overview of how to do it:
- Make the syrup. Bring the strawberries, sugar, water, and vanilla extract to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and cook for 10 minutes.
- Strain the sauce. Set a fine-sieved strainer over a 32-ounce mason jar. Pour the strawberry mixture into the sieve and strain the syrup into the jar.
- Mix. Add the milk to the mason jar and mix until the syrup is fully incorporated into the milk.
- Serve. I like to chill it before finally serving it in a tall glass.
More Uses For Strawberry Syrup
Feel free to make a double batch of the syrup and, instead of mixing it with milk, use it on or with your desserts and breakfast.
- Ice cream. Pour a bit of strawberry syrup over vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry ice cream. Want to make your own ice cream? Try my Birthday Cake Ice Cream Recipe or this 2-Ingredient Homemade Ice Cream Recipe.
- Cake. This sweet syrup is phenomenal when drizzled over a cake. Try it with my Two-Ingredient Mini Lemon Cakes, Chocolate Olive Oil Cake, Strawberry Shortcake Cake, or this decadent Flourless Chocolate Cake.
- Breakfast. Douse your favorite sweet breakfast goods with strawberry syrup. I love it over my Fluffy Almond Flour Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes, these Cream Cheese Waffles, these Baked French Toast, or my 2 Ingredient Crepes.
Proper Storage
To store the milk, close the lid of the mason jar (or transfer the beverage to another airtight container) and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Ingredients
- 2 cups hulled and cubed strawberries
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup water
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 4 cups whole milk
Instructions
- Add the strawberries, sugar, water, and vanilla extract to a saucepan. Turn the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce to medium-heat and cook for 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Set a fine-sieved strainer over a 32-ounce mason jar. Pour the strawberry mixture into the strainer and let the syrup strain into the jar. It should yield about 1/3 cup. Let it cool for a bit.
- Add the milk to the mason jar and mix with a spoon until the milk turns a consistent shade of pink. Taste and adjust the sweetness if needed.
- Serve or refrigerate immediately.
Notes
- Use Fresh Strawberries: Fresh, ripe, sweet strawberries will give you the best flavor. You can use frozen strawberries, but the taste may not be as vibrant.
- Sweeten to Taste: Depending on how sweet your strawberries are, you might need to adjust the amount of sugar in your syrup. Taste as you go and adjust accordingly.
- Strain the Syrup: Don’t skip this step. After making your strawberry syrup, strain it to remove any seeds and pulp.
- Cool the Syrup: Before mixing it with milk, make sure your strawberry syrup has cooled a bit. Adding hot syrup to cold milk could cause it to curdle.
- Whole Milk is Best: While you can use any type of milk, whole milk will give your strawberry milk a rich and creamy flavor. For a dairy-free alternative, you can use almond or oat milk.
- Storage: Homemade strawberry milk is best consumed fresh, but you can store it in the fridge for a couple of days. Give it a good stir before drinking.
- Garnish: Garnish your strawberry milk with a fresh strawberry or a dollop of whipped cream.
